Walcot St Swithin - Sophia WARREN

According to freereg.org.uk Sophia WARREN a minor otp marries by licence on 7 Mar 1782 in Walcot St Swithin William ELFE of St Marys Monmouth. A transcription from Somerset & Dorset Family History Society on findmypast gives the same marriage details but with the date 7 Mar 1766. Could SKS please check which is the correct year for this marriage. Azmal

Oops, put the wrong date the first time. This is what I should have written:

I don't have images of the original register but I do have a third index, published by the Bristol FHS, and that has 1782. It was compiled independently from FreeREG and it is very unlikely that both transcribers made the same mistake, so I think that must be the correct date.

There is a William ELFE Baptised same Church 19 Aug 1760 To WILLIAM/ANN
They married 16 Sep 1759, Ann was nee DAVIES
She appears to have remarried as a Widow 02 Feb 1763 to Isaac TAYLOR

David, thank you for your time and effort, I really appreciate it. 1782 is what I was hoping to hear because my Sophia was born about 1762, which ties in with her being a minor. If the marriage had been 1766 I would have had to think again about her surname being WARREN!

Trish, thank you. Yes, William ELFE bap. 1760 and Sophia have several other children (as well as the ones you mention), starting with Richard Warren ELFE bap. 7 Apr 1784 and ending with Sophia bap. 17 Mar 1797. Their two daughters both name sons Richard Warren. So I was taking a guess that my Sophia was surnamed WARREN, and a marriage in 1782 fits a treat.
