James Alison
« on: Wednesday 09 March 16 18:04 GMT (UK) »
I have a James Alison born 14 Jul 1862 Queensland who was born after his father, James, death on 16 June 1862 also Queensland. Little James' mother was a Margrate/Margret Conoly/Conly/Connelly etc.
Can anyone shed more light on this family and these events please?
I believe James senior and Margrate/Margret were married in Jan 1862.

The Mother/Wife's name on the records is Margaret CONELY and the surname is ALLISON. James senior was 22 years of age at death. Young James was born as you say 14th July and died 05 Dec 1862 at just 4mths & 20days.

James and Margaret had only been married less than one month 22May 1862. They married in Brisbane. Ref # B282

Margaret ALISON went on to marry a John WILLEY in Country Queensland in 1867 Ref # C138. Happily for them they had 8 children. They lost only one as an Infant Myrtle in 1888.

You can order historical images of BMDs for $AU20 from Qld BMDs.  Australian death certificates are usually very informative (much more so than UK ones!).  This is what you can expect to find, for Qld registrations, assuming the informant has given the correct information -
Name,
date
place of death
age,
occupation,
cause of death
parents' names
spouse names and marriage detail,
children's names, and no of children
birthplace
residency
burial place

I note that the index entry for James (father) does not give his parents' names so it would be unlikely that these are on the death certificate.  The index entry does indicate that he was born in Scotland.  Obviously you would need both certificates to establish the causes of death for each of them.

I could not see anything noted in the newspapers of the day that are on TROVE.
