George Blyde
« on: Sunday 13 March 16 13:18 GMT (UK) »
Hoping that someone may be able to help me here..... I am looking for any records for a George Blyde approx birth year 1870's he is my great grandfather mentioned as father on the birth certificate of my grandmother Florence (born 1896) and her sister Helen or Ellen (born 1864) Their mother was Sarah Berry. I have their birth certificates but by the time the census was taken in 1901 they are living with a Sarah and Daniel Sheehan and have changed their names to his. I have Sarah and Daniel's marriage records but George Blyde seems to have vanished I can find no records of him at all. The birth certificate for my grandmother says Florence Maud Mary Blyde born on 16/10/1896 mother Sarah Blyde formally Berry  of 40 St,Thomas Road, Spalding and father George Blyde (commercial traveller)  birth registered in Spalding county of Lincoln UK
 Thanks

Was Sarah said to be a widow when she married Daniel? When was that marriage?

What is Helen/Ellen's birthdate please (can't be 1864)?

What does it say for Sarah Blyde on her marriage to Daniel - widow? I can't find a marriage for a Sarah Berry to a George Blyde.

Sorry, avm228 - same idea.

I see Sarah married Daniel Sheehan in the name of Sarah BERRY.

Was Ellen's birth registered as Blyde (do you have the date right  :-\ )

Is this the marriage?

Marriages Dec 1900
Berry    Sarah
Sheehan    Daniel
W. Ham    4a   3

In which case I don't think she was married to George Blyde as she would have married as Sarah Blyde and the certificate would say formerly Berry

As far as I can see there is only one George Blyde about the right age in 1901. They married in June 1896, so perhaps not him unless he left Sarah before your grandmother was born.

So sorry birth for Helen was 1894 and yes was registered as Blyde I have both birth certificates and Sarah's marraige record to Daniel... which does say Sarah Berry no mention of widow, could it be that her and George were not married ?? Was this common then to have two children to the same man without marrying?? Maybe Blyde was a name made up as I can find no record of him at all Thank you all for replies
