Ireland May SMITH family
« on: Tuesday 15 March 16 13:45 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I am trying to find more about May SMITH born around 1870 Clonmel, Waterford, Ireland.
Married to Edgar Thomas HOLDING in 1896 Athlone, Westmeath, Ireland.
She died in 1947 in Middhurst, West Sussex, England.

She was my GdGrand mother.

I don't know who her parents were, do you ?!!

Thanks for trying.

Rick.

Thanks for answering !

Here inclosed the 1911 census where she is marked with her husband Edgar Thomas Holding.
Her birth's place is marked there.

Thanks, I will try to get a marriage certificate copy.
I live in France by the way.

Rick

That's very clear, now you need to remove the image as it against copyright of the 1911 Census, just click on modify at the top right of your post.

There is a Mary Smith born Clonmel Registation district in 1868 and another 1870

You could order one or both and hope one matches the father on the marriage cert. Hopefully their fathers have different names. €4 per photocopy cert.
Do you know what religious denomination she was?

I don't see the 1868 one in either Clonmel RC parishes so either she wasn't RC or she came from outside those parishes.
The 1870 one comes from Irishtown which is a street in Clonmel town, most of Clonmel is in County Tipperary, on the border with Waterford. Irishtown is on the Tipperary side.

Hello !
I have found May Smith's father !
She was the daughter of William Smith, the general manager and owner of Athlone Woollen Mills.
He died in 1908 in Newquay Cornwall.
Her mother was Eliza DUFFY (or Duffey).

Very interesting subject !
