Good morning. Does anyone have any information on my GGGGG grandad Forster Maynard, born 1768 or my GGGGG grandmother Newland Martin. I believe that he was in the army but I don't know which regiment. I find Newland being quite extra ordinary as this is normally a male name. Any advice please.

There's a baptism in the England Baptisms for a Forster Maynard born 1803 in Romsey, Hampshire, son of "Esqr Forster" and wife Newland.

Marriage in Charlton Marshall, Dorset 09/03/1800 between Newland Martin and Forster Maynard. Forster is of Marylebone, Middlesex parish. Married by licence. Witnesses "Thos Horlock Bastard and Mary Raines".

I would think she came from Dorset as they usually married in the bride's parish I think.
This is interesting though : -

Abraham Newland from wikipedia -

If Newland was his god daughter I wonder what the family connection was?

I'm sure there will be a link there somewhere but I haven't got a clue how to find it.
