Brendan's Cottage, Wantage Road, Berkshire
« on: Thursday 17 March 16 22:31 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I wonder if anyone could help me out, a relative of mine was living at Brendans Cottage, Wantage Road, Berkshire on 1939 census.  It states he was General Labourer RFA Mill, Richard Simpson b1915.
Story has it in my family that he ran off to work with race horses, I just wondered if this property could have something to do with racing.  I dont know the area at all so if anyone could help out that would be great.
Also what would RFA Mill be?
Many Thanks

I think that the OP is reading the results wrong, it is Wantage RD. = Wantage Rural District.

Lambourne is not in the Wantage rural district. Although near it is about 10 miles has the crow flies from Wantage. There are stables nearer to Wantage though.

Mill Lane is actually off Oxford Street in Lambourn.
But Oxford Street leads onto Wantage Road.

The image looks more like RAF not RFA and the following bit is illegible so maybe RAF Grove a mile to the north west of Wantage??   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAF_Grove
