death notices
« on: Sunday 20 March 16 10:35 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find the death notices for my paternal & maternal grandparents.

paternal grandparents were Bertram Harrison Jones died 18th Dec 1984 , &
Mary Jane Jones died 19th Dec 1986, both aged 81, in Prestatyn.

Maternal grandparents Arthur Thomas died 22nd May 1999 aged 90, (known as Arthur Ice Cream) can't remember which hospital, I think it  was HMStanley St Asaph,
Marjorie Thomas nee Carr died 6th Jan 1997 in Glan Clwyd Hospital aged 83

regards

Zoe

There may not have been any death notices published.  It was/is not compulsory.
Have you checked the newspapers in the areas where they lived and died, or where they formerly lived. ?

Your best bet is to see if libraries in the area keep archives of local newspapers. You can find death notices on sites like iannounce, but generally these cover later dates than the ones you're looking for.

Daily Post  (Wales edition)

and Denbighshire Free Press   are most likely papers.

To put an obituary in the local paper is quite expensive and not something that everybody does.
When my mum died it was going to cost £75 so we declined, the funeral plus all it's associated costs came to far more than we'd expected. To add a further £75 would have broken the bank!

You may need to make a personal  visit to the offices of the Denbighshire Free Press (in Mold?)  and look at the hard copies of the newspaper.

Alternatively,  the same with hard copy of the Daily Post (Wales edition)

It's a long way from Lincs  ;D

Maybe trying emailing either newspaper and seeing what they can come up with,or the local library or record office as you know the date, they may do a look up for a small fee.
