Records from the early 1800's and older
« on: Monday 21 March 16 13:42 GMT (UK) »
I just tried looking for relatives in the 1796 Flax Growers from Galway with no luck.

I see in the "Index to Clonfert marriage licence bonds, wills, and administration bonds. Irish Ancestor, 1970" that they list a

Tracy Patt, Carrew, 1846

Carrew is another name for Carhoon, Tynagh, Galway, where I know that I had family members living at that time.

What is a Marriage License Bond?

Are there any other old records from the early 1800's - late 1700's available online?

I live in the USA so the Irish Library in Dublin is not an option.

Thanks

Cork: Hurley, Barrett
Donegal: Kelly, Diver

If you do a search here there are quite a few threads asking the same question, most were never answered but this one might help

Sinann,

I actually found a PDF somewhere for the INDEXES TO CLONFERT MARRIAGE LICENCE BONDS, WILLS AND ADMINISTRATION BONDS.

This is from the Foreward:

"The original wills were destroyed in 1922, but it is worth
noting that brief abstracts of many of those proved between 1829 and 1839 are still
available in the Indexes to Irish Wills Registers at the Public Record Office.
Another version of the Index to Clonfert Wills up to 1836 exists in the Public
Record Office of Northern Ireland. This was compiled by Sir William Betham"

I tried searching online at the PRONI website, but was not able to find anything.

Thanks for the link to the other thread.

The PRONI copy is not on-line. A personal visit is required to view them.

Elwyn,

Now I know why I could not find anything.

It would be a real long shot to actually find a Family member in those records.

Thanks
