RNR Service Record - Prize Crew
« on: Monday 21 March 16 14:42 GMT (UK) »
Further to an earlier post, the record also gives reference to Prize Crew, could I get an explanation of that term please.  I attach a not very good copy of the area of service record.

A prize crew would be put aboard a captured enemy ship - the prize - to sail her to port.

Shaun, does that mean they actually captured an enemy ship, or they were just nominated to be part of a crew that would sail a ship to port if they captured one?

The transcribed ship's log should help with that query
