According to their site, Somerset Archives hold transcriptions of the burial register of Wells St Andrew (the Cathedral) for the period 1660 to 1982 and Wells St Cuthberts for period 1608-1812.  I have taken this to mean typed transcripts rather than BTs, and I guess these transcriptions are held at the Heritage Centre at Taunton.

I would be grateful if anyone visiting the Heritage Centre could check the transcriptions of both parishes for 1677 (and possibly 1676 / 1678) and try to locate the burial entry of George Godwyn/Godwin/Godden.

St Cuthbert's Burials 1677:
Mr George Godwin Burcot  29 Sept

(I assume that means George Godwin of Burcot.)
