The Wheelwrights Arms,Bedhampton
« on: Monday 28 March 16 14:37 BST (UK) »
I wonder if anyone can help with my investigations?
The current Wheelwrights Arms is in Emsworth Road, Havant. it was taken over and completely refurbished by the Upham Brewery about 18 months ago. However the original pub was at 62 Bedhampton Road until after WW1 (the other side of town) then changed to a general store.

Is there anyway I can find out who lived in the original pub up to 1911? The census form on Ancestry is person orientated is there a method looking just at address'? many Thanks David

Just put 62 Bedhampton Road  in the 1911 England Census Summary Book. Although it just shows as a dwelling house

It looks to be more of a beer house than a conventional pub.
A family home in 1911.

I wonder if this was it https://goo.gl/maps/Zmx9zXQmv6x It looks like No.62 on this map https://www.old-maps.co.uk/#/Map/470567/106641/13/101329 The Gospel Hall is No. 58, and the garage will be No.60.

Thanks for all your help.Tried putting in 62 Bedhampton Road in Ancestry as advised by Stan (thanks mate!) but keep getting the same road in Portsmouth not Bedhampton.I found a photo of it on a website called 'Sense of Place south east' by Hampshire Library and Information Service stating it was Bedhampton Road about 1910  maybe that was not the road name at that time?
Yes, probably a beer house rather than a public house.

The pub closed after WW1 it then became according to a photo in 1957 a general store the a tyre replacement garage..and I think that is closed now..so a bit of a chequered history.

On the 1909 map the road has no name, it could be West Street, Bedhampton.
