Copas / Maynard
« on: Tuesday 29 March 16 16:10 BST (UK) »
Can anyone help......
I have found an entry in the 1861 census stating that my GG Grandmother  (Annie R Copas, 4 April 1856) is 5 years old and is niece to. .....someone! The same record shows Sarah Maynard as living there being 16 and the daughter of. ....the same someone! How would I find out who this someone is? The address is:-  Columbia ..., Little North Street, Eastbourne, Sussex
Does anyone know know how to solve this puzzle?
Hopefull

Ann is shown as the niece (and Sarah the daughter) of Isaac Maynard (wid, 56, house builder born Wartling) the head of the household.  He's on the previous page of the enumerator's summary book.

Sorry Rosie for the cross-post :)

Anne Rebecca Copas (22) married James Henry Clements at St Mary Newington on 24 March 1878 - naming her father as Edward Copas, grocer.  Henry's father was James Clements (deceased), soldier.

An Edward Copas (father or brother?) witnessed the marriage.
