Parade
« on: Tuesday 29 March 16 18:16 BST (UK) »
I have no idea why a group of men would parade through Naas town centre suited carrying hurley sticks but I recognise John Mannion  He's the tallest on the left, third from the front with the tussled hair

If anyone could help shed some light on this picture I would be very grateful - Thank you

Could they possibly be attending a funeral of a deceased hurler?
Part of a funeral cortege?

I hadn't thought of that! but would you carry a banner?

He was a runner, long and high jumper not really known for hurling skills!

I have found photographs that belonged to my Father and unfortunately there is nothing written on them as to who is in them or where they were taken.

Would the men have been wearing black ties/armbands if it was a cortege?

Very true - some of the men seem to have a badge on the jacket lapel
St. Patrick's Day was suggested

Also not sure what happened to the rest of the Topic Title! It seems to have disappeared!

One of the houses in the background has a flag in the window. Pity you can't see the man in the white coat better, I was trying to see if any were wearing shamrock.
What year about?

Oh I think that flag is longer than I thought at first, it looks like a tricolour so likely St.Patrick's day.
