I think, if your primary area of research is Scotland, then any of the other pay-to-view sites will be inadequate, not just FindMyPast.

In return, I have to say that, personally, I found Scotland's People very difficult to navigate - on the one and only search I have conducted.  Attempting to obtain an image was a challenge for me  :o  I eventually managed it, but it took me some while  ::)

As the saying goes - "each to their own"  ;D ;D
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!
If you don't ask the question, you won't get an answer.

Has any one any experience of using this site? I was going to take make use of a free trial so I put in my own birth details - which I know - to see what came up. Absolutely useless, my namesakes from all over the world appeared, along with dates years before and years after, even though I specified an exact year.

Where did I go wrong, or is it just a "chocolate tea pot" of a site ?

I've just tried it with my own name (first name, initial and surname), year of birth (0 +/- years), 'Britain' but no specific place as I was born in England and married in Wales. It produces 3 records, 2 of my own and a marriage for someone with exactly the same name :).  As age would not be listed in the marriage index, I can't fault that :)

I just found myself in the birth BMD index never thought of looking before.  Luckily I didn't find myself in the deaths.  ;D
