Arthur George Barr lookup 1911 cenus and army record
« on: Wednesday 30 March 16 12:39 BST (UK) »
Please could someone look up who else was living with Arthur George Barr in 1911 on the census where there is a listed for Itchen, South Stoneham, Hampshire.
There should also be a British army record for him somewhere

I think he was the person who later married the following Daisy Cooper and Arthur Barr:-
BARR   ARTHUR G  —  —  1916  England & Wales marriages 1837-2008  Alverstoke, Hampshire, England

Many thanks.

The Arthur George Barr Rosinish finds in WO 363 has father James and lives at the time of joining the Hants RHA, a Territorial Force unit, April 1914, in Ludlow Road Itchen.  His career with them appears to have lasted a bit short of 7 months until Nov 1914.
Do you know whether he was serving when he married Daisy in 1916?

Apprentices were not allowed to enlist in the army apart from a part-time unt and in peacetime. Which is the case here.

My guess is that he was discharged as people like him or those who did not sign the Imperial Obligation (to serve overseas) had to be discharged.

Ken  He signed the "Agreement to be made by an officer or man......outside the United Kingdom in the event of a National Emergency" so presumably it was for his apprentice status (Thorneycroft at Woolston) in his case.
