John Lambert from Lavenham
« on: Friday 01 April 16 09:55 BST (UK) »
Can anyone help with this
John Lambert born 1724 in Lavenham Suffolk married Elizabeth Ames in 1740.
Many of the ancestry trees have johns parents as hugh Lambert and Ann Morgan with ancestors going back the family emergating from USA . I can't find any evidence of hugh being johns father or the early lambert arriving from USA . I would appreciate any help with this mystery .

Findmypast's Suffolk baptism index ( includes baptisms in Lavenham, but only from 1754 onwards, so there's no chance of finding John Lambert there. Probably needs a trip to the records office.
Transcribing Essex records for FreeREG.
Current parishes - Burnham, Purleigh, Steeple.

Just because someone married in Lavenham doesn't mean they necessarily were born in Lavenham!

However, in the early 1700's there were some Lambert/Lamburd's there then according to the old familysearch (IGI).   Definitely need to consult the early records which are not alas online.
