Garston, Liverpool - Church Records
« on: Friday 01 April 16 12:26 BST (UK) »
Hi

I'm just wondering if anyone knows the best way to find church records for Holy Trinity Church or St. Francis of Assisi in Garston.  I can't find them online or in the Liverpool Records Office.  I'm researching the Mitchell family.

Many thanks.

Paula

The advice I gave there applies to this query, also.

Both these churches are Roman Catholic, genuki  has little information about where the records are,
I think some records are still held by the church.

Try LiverpoolHistoryProjects.co.uk?

http://www.liverpoolhistoryprojects.co.uk/liverpoolrcbaptisms/

or Ancestry.

Lancashire online parish clerk project lists both these churches as record source   local, which I take to mean still at the church.

Genuki says Holy Trinity closed in 2003 the records may be now at St Francis of Assisi. You're probably best contacting the existing RC parish for the area for contact details see "ST WILFRED (INCLUDES FORMER PARISH OF HOLY TRINITY)" on this link:-

Hiya Paula ....do you have any addresses for the Mitchell family ??...I know the Mitchell family here now ...
1883 21st May - Robert  Mitchell married Mary Berry in Garston - fathers William Mitchell and Peter Berry - one example ...I can see quite a few records available -
post some names for me to research
I live in Garston - I am a pensioner and know most people in Garston - I may be able to help  :)
there is also St Austin RC church in Garston  ;)

this would be better on the Lancashire board for research

St Austin RC church is now closed I visited it prior to closure if there are any queries I would use the contact details on the link in my previous post for St Wilfred (at St Francis of Assisi).

Thanks Blue - I was aware of that - but there is quite a large churchyard there with about 200 graves - if there are any Mitchell graves in there I would gladly walk up there - I live about 600 metres away ...a nice walk for my 2 dogs ...but not today - it's raining ...lol....... :)
