Celeneir Whitworth
« on: Tuesday 05 April 16 11:20 BST (UK) »
I am trying to trace the death record and then the birth for Celenier.

I have a funeral card which states she was the wife of John Whitworth and died on August 2nd, 1888.
She was buried on the 4th August at St Cross church, Clayton.

My problem is that I cannot find a death or marriage record for her, so cannot proceed with family research for her birth,  parents and siblings.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I wonder if that is the Selena WHITWORTH  registered Sep Qtr 188 Stockport (age 59).

There does seem to be a John WHITWORTH with a wife of the same name/age.

No wonder I couldn't find her, she lied about her age it would seem.
This looks like the family in 1861 now McRae.
Sarah Mc Rae  79
Hannah Cliffe  50 dau.
Elizabeth Mc Rae  46 dau.
Arabella Mc Rae  42 dau. ( called Barlow in 1851 & married but no husband)
William Mc Rae  33 son
Esther Chadderton  17 G/dau.
RG 9; Piece: 2801; Folio: 34; Page: 22
The name jumps about a lot.
On Arabella's marriage to Joseph Barlow she's called mcCrae, her sister who was a witness is called McCrea as is her father William.
FreeBMD has her under both spellings.

Hello I am 99.9% sure it is Selina McCria father William McCria although I think that the surname is spelt wrong they couldn't spell in those days. She was born in the Macclesfield area, Cheshire and married John Whitworth 9th January 1859 St Johns Deansgate Lancashire.
John Whitworth was christened 25th September 1831 at Stalybridge, near Ashton Under Lyne his father was Charles Whitworth, I think his mother was Mary. John died 1897 in the Prestwich registration district where Clayton is.
On the 1871 Census they lived at Denton and had no children. Ann Brown also lived there age 60 who was Johns sister in law born 1811 that would be her married name and Selinas sister .
1861 Census they lived in the parish of Newton Heath and had no children.

Thank you all for your amazing help today.
I have spent considerable time trying to trace her, but drew a blank with spelling of her name.
I am now going to order certificates for marriage and death, and then work back to her birth.

Sooo happy today. Thank you all

Before you go spending your money, the marriage cert. won't tell you any more than you already know.
