I don't understand, if it was in Spalding then it was a marriage under  Hardwicke's Marriage Act of 1753, and it was an invalid marriage if they were only 11, and, if this was a CofE Parish I doubt a minister would perform the ceremony, also as I said Marriage Records in England and Wales do not normally show birth dates. Is it possible to post a scan of the record?

Possibly the age of 11 was estimated from baptism dates which are not necessarily close to dates of birth.

That was my thought as well.

Might there have been another couple with the same names in the area?. If the couple are John Beaver and Mary, the names are not unusual.

How sure you are that you have the correct couple?

Like Stan, I would be interested in seeing the record which gives their ages as 11.

I agree I would like to see the record also.

I have followed the Couple I posted, 2 Children to them;
JOHN, 26 May 1816, Weston
WILLIAM, 1 October 1821, Spalding

I might be completely off track but that is the only Dec 1815 Marriage I could find on F/S in Spalding.

This William remarries 1832 to Jane LAMB
1851 Census he is born c 1791 Huntingdonshire.
Living in Spalding with Jane.

MARY Beavor was Buried 31 Jul 1831 age 38

As I said it may be the wrong Couple but unless Steelman gives us the names we will never know ;)

No these are not the couple, far frrom it.
I may be accused of being a bit careful, but I am not at this stage prepared to divulge my surname. What I will tell you is that my information came from"Ancestry" when I was researching my family tree

It's difficult to help if we don't know a name!  When you say that the information came from Ancestry, do you mean that you've seen a scan of the original document, or have you taken the information from a transcription?  Or did the information come from a family tree?

In answer to the question about marriages in the 19Th century, my great, great, great grandfather was married in December 1815 at the age of 11 years his bride was also aged 11 years old. i understand that this was allowed if the parents agreed.

Firstly, welcome to Rootschat!

I may be a bit thick at times - so, if it's not too rude a question, why have you started this thread?
