Marriage of John Vaone aka Vaughan
« on: Saturday 09 April 16 16:08 BST (UK) »
Hi

I'm looking for the marriage of a John Vaone aka Vaughan to a woman called Ann.

They produced two know children at Ewhurst, Elizabeth (1783) and Priscilla (1784). They may also be the parents of two Vaughan's who resided in nearby Sandhurst Kent, John (c.1765) and George (c.1773).

There is a letter at the East Sussex record office dated c.1780 - http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/rd/15a80d46-4094-4e47-9cd0-df588101c1d0 - which details a John Vaone who has married and wants to move from Wadhurst to Ewhurst. This could be the same man.

Can anyone help me track this marriage down please?

I think an appeal to any Rootschatter in Brighton who would be willing to pop into the East Sussex Record Office might be useful.  The letter from John Huntly might hold additional information.

I couldn't find any marriage on freereg or familysearch.

Good hunting.
Philip

I can't see a suitable marriage on the Sussex pre 1837 marriage index but with spelling variants I might have missed it.  Maybe try in Kent?
