There is an indexed marriage for Frances Ethel Gladys SWINNERTON in 1934 in Victoria.

It confirms the above listed death as correct.

Yes it was the Bell marriage which is correct. Apparently Frances married another two times.

Henry Swinnerton born 1861 Crowlands Frances first husband.
Now looks like he was the son of William Swinnerton and Eliza McQuade.
I need to prove that this was right.

I think it's one of those families who re-used forenames across generations and for cousins etc.

This is how I see it:

Henry SWINNERTON

b1899 Heathcote,
m Frances Yeoman 1924,
divorced 1934

Henry's parents:
William SWINNERTON,

b 1854 Ballarat East,
m 1892 NSW
d 1939 Bendigo
Ellen J MANNIX,

William's parents (Henry's grandparents) -this information comes from the birth index entry for William b 1854)
William SWINNERTON
Eliza MCQUADE

William and Eliza were the parents of the  Henry SWINNERTON, b 1861, registered at Crowlands.  Thus the Henry registered at Crowlands in 1861 would be an uncle of the Henry reigistered at Heathcote 1899 with parents William and and Ellen and who married Frances in 1924.

Once again I applaud the researches on this site for the information they find.

Now having added the relevant info to a Swinnerton Tree I see that The  Henry
Swinnerton who I first inquired about born 1899 in Heathcote. Was in fact the son of
William and Ellen Jane Mannix. And the grandson of  William and Eliza Mcquade.
Of course this all requires verifying with certs.

Another thing that eludes me is what happened to Henry born 1899. We know now that he was divorced from Frances for desertion. WHERE did he dissapper to?

Thanks everyone for your help.

This is the death of a child of the couple-

SWINNERTON Royston Jos
Father SWINNERTON Hy Jno
Mother Frances Gladys Ethel  YEOMAN
Death Place BENDIGO
Age 1 year
Year 1928
Reg   8750

We may assume from this that the couple were together to 1927ish and possibly living at Bendigo, though there is no electoral roll listing for either of them.

It is possible that Henry deserted the family, began to use a different name and the divorce may even have been granted in his absence.  The newspaper item does not say.

It will be a big challenge to locate him, I think. :o
