Children of James Edward Reeves born 1890 in New Zealand
« on: Tuesday 12 April 16 00:44 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I am trying to trace the children of James Edward Reeves and his wife Evaline Margaret Hislop (nee Pearson) who married in 1914 in New Zealand. I have got two names for their children: Dulcie Josephine (born 1914) and John Edward (born 1916) but I believe there might be another eight or ten children.
Evaline died in 1946 and James Edward died in 1964 and they are buried in Taihape Cemetery in NZ.
I think that at one point James and Edward had twins and also possibly a daughter called Flo and a son called Rowan.
I am trying to research the descendants of James' parents Edward Reeves and Mary Hallesy who lived in the Hawkes Bay part of NZ.
Any information would be gratefully received.
Many thanks,
Robin Reeves

Many thanks to aniph and hurworth.

Yes the Will for Edward Reeves in 1913 is the one for James Edward's father.

Evaline Margaret Hislop Reeves' Will confirms the existence of her son John Edward Reeves, as a farm worker in Taihape in 1946 and that in Evaline's Will clause 3b that she had daughters and sons but unfortunately there are no names.

Any suggestions on how these could be found please?
Robin Reeves

Via the electoral roll and the death index at https://bdmhistoricalrecords.dia.govt.nz/Search/Search.aspx?Path=%2FqueryEntry.m%3Ftype%3Ddeaths

You'd need to order the death printout to be absolutely certain.

I've think I have found the twins in Gisborne cemetery - Alfred Bruce Reeves and James Stanley Reeves, born 10/12/1917.

I will message you with some others shortly as there are possibly links to living people.

Many thanks hurworth. That's brilliant!

Looking forward to hearing more news, especially of living people.

How did you find that Alfred Bruce and James Stanley are the twins? I've now found a Gisborne cemetery record via Google about Alfred Bruce and a www.geni.com record about James Stanley but how do you know they are twins and that they are the descendants of James Edward and Evaline?

I noticed that in bdmhistorical records Evaline's death was recorded as Evelyn.

Many thanks again.

If you put the surname Reeves in the NZ Death Index (link in previous post) it gives you their age when they died or more recently their date of birth.

If you click on date of birth at the top of the column it puts them in date order.  These two men have the same birthdate.
