ROGERS Oswestry, in Index to Death Duty Register
« on: Saturday 16 April 16 11:02 BST (UK) »
Having found an entry in the 'Index to Death Duty Register' that I'd like to follow up I've got as far as: the National Archives website: 'Will register: surnames N - R, folios 249-479' (cannot be downloaded).
Is the NA the only source I need to follow or is there likely to be anything related elsewhere?

Re: ROGERS Oswestry, What significance £300 in an 1845 will?
« Reply #2 on: Saturday 16 April 16 16:01 BST (UK) »
Thanks for that.

There are two notes on the front cover of the 1843 will 'sub-£300' and 'less than £300'. Does this amount have some significance in 1845, say comparable to todays inheritance tax amount, when the will was executed?

I'm not sure there was a lower limit for Legacy Duty at that time. This explains the system
