UK Apprentices Indentured into the Merchant Navy
« on: Wednesday 20 April 16 19:28 BST (UK) »
I have discovered that Lindsay S M Paton was registered as an apprentice into the Merchant Navy in 1890 at Liverpool Docks, and I want to find out more. However, the National Archive website says that to do this I need the Ship's Name. I'd be grateful if someone could give me some ideas about how I can go about getting this information?

Have you looked at the merchant navy records on FindMyPast?

Have you looked here?

From memory,  I seem to recall  that there was a Training Ship called the T.S. Conway.

There was a training Establishment called T.S. Indefatigable  on the Menai Straits in the 1950s and 1960s

Thank you Blue 70, and Scouseboy,

I have checked Findmypast but they don't seem to have any records of my grandfather's apprenticeship. Apparently Ancestry have something - but I don't have access.

He died before 1915 so he won't be included in the 1915crewlist project.
