Anderson from Udale

Hello to all from Australia,
I am looking for some information that can link Alexander Anderson  from Udale, died 1809, with Rev Hugh Anderson Born 1630 and his father Rev Gilbert Anderson died 1655.We recently posted a photo of Alexander Anderson and were given many suggestions  to the location in Cromartyshire and have since found out it was Udale. Any information would be wonderful.

Thank you for your interest and swift reply. I had found this interesting article however it is the offspring of Hugh Anderson and Grizel Row that would help  fill in the 100 year gap between them and Alexander Anderson d,1809. Even information linking Vicar John Anderson d. 1582 to Gilbert Anderson b 1597 would be wonderful.

Hi,

Gilbert Anderson born 1597 he married Elizabeth Bruce ( she married 2nd Husband Andrew Ross
minister of Tarbat) 
They had Hugh Anderson born 1633 = Grizel Row dau of John Row

They had:-
Barbara born January 1661 died March 1663
Hugh born 1666 Minister of Drainie
Alexander born 28th August 1672 Minister of Duffus
Grizel who married Mr Crombie,  Merchant in Elgin

Thank you so much for this lead,
 It has given me a couple of names to run with. Hugh and Alexander. These names are repeated in every generation which does not help with the confusion!!! Now just have to sort out which one is which.
Do you have any other tips of where I could investigate? I have joined 'Scotlands People' have not had any joy but will go back in with these new names.

There is lots of information in Fasti Ecclesiae Scoticanae V1, i.e. Pg 383

  states that Hugh Anderson = Margaret Munro
He died 26th October 1749 his wife predeceased him without issue.

Can you give what info you have on Alexander Anderson who died 1809?  where did he
die what was his occupation etc.

We have pasted Alexander Anderson's picture (1809) on the search page under the search title. 'help identifying place name in Cromartyshire ' 23/3/16. The place name was identified as Udale. We have no information re him.

Hi,
Yes this is Alexander's picture.
 This is a photo taken of  a painting. The writing at the bottom of the picture was written by my Great Grand Mother, Emily Augusta Wood Anderson D.1928.
