George Edward John Thomas
« on: Monday 25 April 16 09:50 BST (UK) »
Hello

I'm searching for information on a relatively recent person (but deceased).  His name was George Edward John Thomas, born 27 November 1915, died 1967 in the Kent area.
The mystery is that there is nobody matching his name on the birth register.. although I have his marriage certificate to Adelaide Sage which states this full name.  Family rumour is that he was adopted/ a 'Barnardo's boy'.

Does anybody have any information on this person or indeed any ideas how I can find out about adoption records or information from Barnardos?

Many thanks

Anna

I see that his wife was Adeline K Sage (rather than Adelaide) on the 1938 marriage in Dartford.

What details did George give of his father on the marriage (name, occupation), and who were the witnesses?

Hi both, thanks for the info re his address - he lives in Swanscombe on his marriage cert..  and I'll check out the Barnardos link.  His father is listed as James Richard Thomas, general labourer on the marriage cert.  GEJT's occupation is callender assistant.

there is this birth reg
George E J Thomas
Jun qtr 1916
mother's maiden name Hillier
Christchurch
2b 1285

I can only find a death reg to "match" with the Dec 1867 in Chatham

If George was born Nov 1915 his birth could have been registered late - especially as it was war time - maybe his father was in the armed forces and they waited for him to come home??
