Marriage of Samuel Hall
« on: Monday 25 April 16 21:22 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find the marriage of Samuel Hall, he was born in Heage and baptised in Duffield 1814 , parents Patrick and Sarah Hall.
I have him married in the 1841 census to an Eliza.  Then in 1851 he is living with his father in law Geo (surname  transcribed as Heart incorrect, I think).  I do not know his wife's maiden name and cannot find a marriage.  His son Joseph is aged 4 in 1841 so I am thinking they married about 1837.  Can anyone help. ::)

Hi Roger

That is a very likely one as I think the census that has her father transcribed incorrectly should have been "Hunt"  I guess I was not looking out of the box and thinking she also came from Derbyshire!

Sometimes you just go round in circles!

Thanks

I read image as George Hunt -and there is a Hunt family next door
I think the selston marriage is a very strong possibility
Eliza was b Denby Derbyshire
Samuel  was born Heage and at 1841 they lived at Golden Valley (Codnor Park area)
I did quite a lot of research for local History society and often people living in heage/Golden Valley/Codnor /loscoe area at that time would use either St lawrence Church heanor or Selston Nottinghamshire
Selston seems quite a way but over the fields it really isn't too far

This is possibly george in 1841
College Denby Derbys
George Hunt 64 coal miner
Hannah 54
Elizabeth 15
all b in county
HO107 188 12 10 19

there is a baptism which would "fit" with Eliza but parents are george & Ruth
with the age difference of George and Hannah maybe Hannah was his 2nd wife

I have Hunts in my tree from this area  -there were lots of them

also if you come across any marriages at Duffield when they were living heage/Codnor Loscoe Denby - it could possibly be because the vicar of Duffield round about that time didn't charge a fee for marriages if he thought it wasn't affordable - also he would marry "relatives" i.e. someone marrying their dead husband's brother etc - against the law at that time

One of my Hunts did that - she died in Heanor and her inscription reads "relict of Nathaniel but died with Robert" She married Nathaniel and after his death married his brother !!!

Hi,

There is also a death of a George Hunt, buried 3rd May 1855, Denby Derbyshire aged 80 years.

This is from www.familysearch.co.uk, you can also see the image of burial register, you need to
sign in - but access is free.

There is also a Christening Eliza Hall 3rd June 1817 dau of George Hall & Ruth at
WESLEYAN METHODIST,BELPER,DERBYS.  No image for this one.

Sorry the above surname HALL should be HUNT - very senior moment

Hi,

Re 1841 Census Denby Derbyshire.

Try searching for Ruth Hund born 1791 Derbyshire.

George Hund  60
Ruth Hund      50
George Hunt Jnr 11

The surname is actually Hunt.

that seems a better bet for George in 1841 than I found -although they are living in same area as George with hannah!!!

possibly wife of George?????

Thanks everyone you have all been a great help.  I was getting brain dead trying to sort it out and as I live no where near Derbyshire it is difficult guessing how near places are to each other and how far people would travel.
