Thank you so much for all that info on Janet's burial and some of her family, everyone you mentioned is related, some info I had but not on where she was buried - so I was correct in my thinking that I had the right family, I am so grateful for all of this.

It certainly looks like you are correct
Have you got any of Janet Scott's siblings?

I have:
Janet Scott -
Mary Scott - 1794 - 1868
Margaret Scott - 1795 - 1895
Elizabeth Clare Scott (known as Betsy) - 1811 - 1890
Andrew Scott - born 1794 - 1870
Andrew died at Kildary House, Kilmuir-Easter, Cromarty he was married to Helen Graham - his occupation: Factor

The family have been so hard to find; probably more children, but an interesting bunch of people. I am going out just now, but I do need some more help with others attached to this family, hopefully you will be able to help/or guide me in the right direction

I have added the death notice of Andrew Scott; Janet's brother.  I can't understand why no birth certs can be found for this family

Do you think there will be a record in the church itself naming her late husband, William Smith? and the actual date of death

IGI

Elizabeth Clare Scott
mentioned in the record of John Mitchell
Name   Elizabeth Clare Scott
Gender   Female
Husband   Andrew Mitchell
Son   John Mitchell
Name   John Mitchell
Gender   Male
Christening Date   16 May 1841
Christening Place   , QUEENSFERRY, WEST LOTHIAN, SCOTLAND
Birth Date   17 Apr 1841
Father's Name   Andrew Mitchell
Mother's Name   Elizabeth Clare Scott

So that solves the son-in-law comment, Elizabeth Clare Scott was married to Andrew Mitchell.

He could be the Andrew Mitchell of Kirkliston on the grave, can't read all of the grave very well.

Going by Andrew Scott of Kildarys funeral notice I found his name in a book

NOBLEMEN AND GENTLEMEN'S SEATS, VILLAGES
By SUTHERLAND AND KNOX

Kildary, Ross, Andrew Scott, farmer, Parkhill.
https://books.google.co.nz/books?id=oOYNAAAAQAAJ&pg=PA87&dq=andrew+scott,+kildary+house&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiI3NST9LrMAhXGq5QKHQJ5CX8Q6AEIGjAA#v=onepage&q=andrew%20scott%2C%20kildary%20house&f=false

So it seems he was a landowner. So not exactly poor

correct, about Andrew Scott, he was also the Factor, I think it would be him that erected the gravestone, as his father is at the top 1845, then his mother 1837, followed by his sister Janet 1847 and nephew, then his brother-in-law - I can't make it all out, if I lived nearer I would visit the graveyard.

The Andrew Mitchell mentioned was a Distiller.

I also find it odd that Andrew's wife was not buried beside him (Elizabeth Clare (Betsy) Scott) married name Mitchell - she died 27/12/1890-Port Gower Place, Edinburgh, and the informant was her nephew Andrew Scott residing at 40 Leamington Terrace, Edinburgh, I have him born 1830 and no death, a marriage to a Catherine which I cannot find; I am sure he with what I have found that he was an Indigo Planter in Calcutta - he was retired at 50yrs in 1901 he was living at Ventnor Hampshire.

So I have 2 sisters, Janet and Elizabeth not buried with their husbands - odd
