Looking for Mary? who was married to William Ridley

Not sure if should be posting here or on the common room. I have hit a brick wall looking for someone called 'Mary' who I determine from Census that was born in Hallyards, Northumberland around 1859. She was the wife of William Ridley born 1855/6 from Craghead, Chester-Le-Street. They had 8 children in total, the eldest was John Thomas Ridley who was born around 1878 and married Susannah Potts from Auckland St Andrew in 1904. I have no idea of her surname but she was on the 1881 census in 104 Urpeth Square, Urpeth Colliery, 1891 at 74 Urpeth Cross Rows, Urpeth. 1901 they lived in pelton Street, Urpeth. William was a widower by 1911 and two children had died. I have found a William Dobson Ridley marriage around the correct time but he appears simply as William on all the censuses so I am not sure it is him. Sorry but I know nothing else about her, any suggestions please.

Hi looking at the possible marriage you located for William/Mary in 1876 Chester le Street, I note the Mary was a Mary Rowell, from the 1881 census I note she was born 1859 Hallyard, checking back to 1861, there is a Mary Rowell aged 2 b Ovingham with parents Henry & Ann residing at HALL YARD Cottages, Mickley, Hexham?

Wow thank you so much that was quick. Do you think its likely that he was a William 'Dobson' Ridley then, but dropped the Dobson on each census? I haven't found any information about his birth yet either but had assumed he was simply William Ridley not William Dobson Ridley. On the marriage information does it give the maiden name of Mary Rowells mother by any chance? I wonder how they would have met. its all so fascinating.  Thank you

Sorry I was typing as you replied. Yes that must be him as he is my grandads granddad who is also called William Dobson Ridley, born in 1905 to John Thomas Ridley and Susannah Potts. He was born in Craghead too.  Brilliant.

  Never assume, but I have told you his parents, and he has a younger brother John Thomas aged 3 ok!
