If I wanted to find out someone was in prison in or around 1901 how could/would I go about it? Where is best to look?
Cheers

I shouldn't think he's still alive
so it's OK to post his name on here.

Yes if you post his details, name, age, where born etc, we can have a look for you
Was he a single man in 1901 and have you found a death for him?
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos

I've recently found one of mine who was missing in 1901. He was overseas in the Second Boer War (1899-1902), have you tried military records? I only found out as Anc threw up a military clue and I found some fab information once I started down that path.
