In the 1881 Census John Ridley, age 64, born Acomb, Northumberland, is the Farm Bailiff, Beamish Stables, with his wife, Jane Ridley, age 62, born Hartburn, Northumberland. RG11; Piece: 4941; Folio: 69; Page: 1

In 1851 John Ridley, 34, was an Ag. Lab. in Washington, wife Jane,33, son William, 7,  son George,5,  daughter Ann, 3,  daughter Mary, aged 1 month. HO107; Piece: 2394; Folio: 688; Page: 45
In 1861  John Ridley, 54 was the Farm Bailiff at Beamish Stables,  wife Jane, 42, son William, 17,  son George,15,  daughter Annie, 8, son John, 6,  and daughter Jane E. aged 2, RG 9; Piece: 3729; Folio: 96; Page: 36
In 1871 John Ridley, 54, Farm Bailiff , wife Jane, 50, son William, 27, an engine fitter, son George, 25, Agricultural Labourer, daughter Annie, 18, and son John, 16, Pupil Teacher. RG10; Piece: 4955; Folio: 54; Page: 1

Ok that's great. Don't suppose we can find out how long it was a stable?
 Now we need to see if there is a link between John Ridley and our William (Dobson?) Ridley born in Craghead in 1855/6 son of Thomas Ridley and Elizabeth Dobson.
We also need to find out if there is any link between Frank Atkinson born in Yorkshire 1924 who was curator of beamish museum? Maybe there is a link between him and Our Mary Ridley born 1883 in Pelton who in 1909 married Robert Atkinson born 1883. They had a daughter mary born 1910 or 11? Not sure if any other siblings.
