Henry and Mary Largey, emigrated to USA 1910
« on: Wednesday 04 May 16 20:42 BST (UK) »
Hi all,

I am looking for any information on Henry Largey and his wife Mary Largey. Henry arrived in New York from Belfast Ireland on 31st July 1910 and was going to Paterson, New Jersey. His wife Mary joined him(she was travelling with Henry's sister, also called Mary Largey(unmarried), arriving in New York on 4th October, 1910.
I can see from Henry's WW1 registration card  1917/1918 that he is still living in N J and now has 2 children.
Henry's WW2 registration card 1942 shows he is  living in Kearny, N J with his wife Mary.

Any additional information about  these  3 Largeys would be most welcome.

Thank you.

Paul.

Henry on Social Security Death Index - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:JRW9-Q2X

His burial - http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=98357437&ref=acom  There are many other Largeys in that cemetery.

Have you got some dates of birth to confirm we have the correct family.  The one Shelly has put up was born 6 June 1899, so wouldn't be old enough to have a wife on immigration in 1910  ???

The passenger list for 31 July 1910 would indicate that Hugh Largey was born in Belfast - Liverpool - New York on the Celtic- car driver -  mother Jane Largey 60 Gardiner Street Belfast. Going to friend Thomas Hutchinson 560 Main Street Paterson NJ.

Mary Largey born 1890 and aged 20 years travelling on the Furnessia arriving 4 Oct 1910 - housekeeper - going to same address as above.
Mary Largey (sister) born 1891 and aged 19 years also travelling

The only Henry Largey born in Belfast in the period 1886 to 1890 was born on 30th April 1888.For some reason Henry has given his DOB on his WW1 registration card as 30th April 1889!! This DOB rules out the Henry Largey in posts 2 and 4.He definitely emigrated in 1910.

Sandra, you were quicker on the draw than me. My wife's Great Grandfather, James Largey, was born in 58 Gardiner Street Belfast. Largey is not THAT common a name in Belfast, I think they have to be related.

Found another arriving 20 Sept 1915 - Mary Ann Largey aged 26 years and Jane Pauline aged 2 months. Mother In Law - Mrs Largely - 5 Townsend Street Belfast. Going to husband Hugh Largey, address is Kearny Hudson NJ
