Early Falmouth Perkins settlers
« on: Thursday 05 May 16 23:09 BST (UK) »
I'm not sure if i have been here before so i apologise in advance if duplicating here.

The earliest man i've found is George Perkins born in 1702 in Falmouth.
I think his parents were Mary Libby and John Perkins.
John's parents may have been Jacob Perkins and Elizabeth ?? Gater.

I'm keen to ascertain whether and if my Perkins' link actually goes back to Hillmorton, Warwickshire.  Did an ancestor from there leave in the century's turmoil to go south to say, early Falmouth and region?

Basically i'm intrigued as to (1)whether the early days of Falmouth, Cornwall and Falmouth, Cape Cod, America actually shared any of my Perkins' ancestry?!  And (2) if i can work to find the link even further back to the Norman Pierre de Morlaix!!

On Ancestry i'm hauling in many Perkins between the years of 1600 - 1720.  Names are oft repeated generationally and many of the men had military titles including Captain - but whether that was army or navy, or the merchant packet ships which sailed so frequently between the two lands i can't say of course.

Any help or clarification would be super.

What source do you have for George Perkins?
freereg has transcripts for Falmouth and familysearch has images of a 1915 transcript, but I can't see George in or near 1702.
Please help me to help you by citing sources for information.

Cornwall-OPC-Database has baptisms for Perkins as far back as 1613?
And in Falmouth from 1666.

However, I can't see a baptism for a George c1702?
