Walter Launcelot Creyke
« on: Saturday 07 May 16 19:52 BST (UK) »
B:  06Dec1880, D:  29Sep1940.  I am trying to find more information on Walter for his descendants in Canada and have been doing OK but have hit a few road-blocks.  I have been unable to find any family photos, there was an accident which then lead to his death in 1940, unable to locate a will or find where probate was completed.  If anyone could help steer me in the right direction or has any information, your help would be greatly appreciated.  thanks, Katherine.

I see he died in Uxbridge (freebmd.org.uk)

If there was a probate/administration (which depends whether there was a will or not) in the UK, it should be findable at https://www.gov.uk/search-will-probate

I looked through the end of the war and didn't see anything. Either there was a longer delay, or his estate never went through probate - at least, in the UK.

I searched the Probate Registry up to 1950, and couldn't find him?!

On the Electoral Rolls of 1933 to 1939, he was living in Westminster.

Previous searches failed to find a will?!

Thank you for helping out and your suggestions.  There is one more thing that I can not find any information as to where he would be buried?  There are no records at all?  Since his death was in 1940, early WWII, shouldn't there still be some sort of a record of his burial place?  Not sure where to look for this either?   What I have found so far is very interesting but there is more out there I'm sure of it.  Kathy

I had a look on Deceased Online, but there is no record for Walter.
I am Australian, from all the lands I come (my ancestors, at least!)

Pine/Pyne, Dowdeswell, Kempster, Sando/Sandoe/Sandow, Nancarrow, Hounslow, Youatt, Richardson, Jarmyn, Oxlade, Coad, Kelsey, Crampton, Lindner, Pittaway, and too many others to name.
Devon, Dorset, Gloucs, Cornwall, Warwickshire, Bucks, Oxfordshire, Wilts, Germany, Sweden, and of course London, to name a few.

Re the accident (some confusion?)
"Is Walter Creyke really Lancelot Creyke or his brother? He was brought in here on Monday night having got involved with a tube train; the story I heard was he sat on the platform and dangled his legs over the edge as the train came in."

Whiteout7...Walter Creyke and Launcelot Creyke, it is the same person.   His given name was Walter Launcelot Creyke and I gave found he went by Launcelot Creyke.   Thank you for this information.   I do have a copy of his death certificate which says the reason for his death and there was an inquest.   Nothing as to the outcome of the inquest.
