problem Printer
« on: Wednesday 20 July 05 14:25 BST (UK) »
Please ignore this message,Have since had a visitor who told me to leave the computer switched on,but to turn off the wall switch. As this for some reason fixes things (sometimes). So i did, and it did, ;D
I then remembered he told me to do that on another occasion.
So sorted ;)

Help i seem to have messed up my printer I have been doing a lot of printing ,downloading from the net. Then deleting, the last three days.Printer icon now keeps dissapearing off the bar,it's not there when i switch on my computer, the message i get is.Spool 32 has caused an error in spool/32ex (which in itself is an error that shows up everytime i switch on.Had that for two years no problem.)The only way to get the icon back is to restart the computer.I tried printing without the icon but it jams the machine so i have to restart anyway. I have done all the normal things like checking for faults on the disk.Checking any changes in setting but cant find anything wrong. What else can i try ???

leave the computer switched on,but to turn off the wall switch

a dangerous practice ... if you switch off the power and the hard drive is writing to the drive you stand the chance of screwing the whole thing up.

check what printers are installed under the control panel .... delete your printer and re install the drivers for it.

or if you have used system restore (or W98's version of it) use that to go back to a workable condition.

Hi My Printer has been installed for three years.have just had a look via the control panel,at the printer icon it has a tick ( short cut?)according to that when i opened it it has no files in it.
EPUSB: (USB port not connected) dont understand all that.the icon is back on the bar and printer working after re-boot.dont have to use System restore as yet. I will do as you say and reinstall the printer.will let you know if that solves the problem and the freezing. If it doesnt i will wait for the next high tide, for the computer, not me ;D

Personally I usually find the threat of direct physical action works wonders with the machines

re EPUSB .... this refers to the Epson USB driver ....... can you confirm what version of Windows 98 you are running as this may go hand in hand with your camera problem.

Well the good news is that your machine should be fully compatible with your camera and printer's usb connections.

The bad news is that Windows ME (Millenium Edition) is probably the most problematic of all versions of windows. (a personal opinion  :P )
