Llanblethian Parish Baptism Records - DAVID
« on: Sunday 08 May 16 20:58 BST (UK) »
Hello

I am trying to establish who the parents of Thomas David were. Thomas was a boot/shoemaker and church clerk who was born in Llanblethian about 1828. He married Elizabeth Davies in Saron Chapel in Treoes in 1850. They lived in High Street, Cowbridge until he died in 1899. I know that his father's name was John and that he was also a cordwainer, living in Llanblethian.

I have found a John David born about 1792 from Ewenny/Laleston married to Mary from St. Mary Church in both the 1851 and 1861 censuses for Llanblethian. He was widowed by 1871. They had sons William David born 1830 and John David born 1832. I can't find a baptism record for Thomas to see if I can establish a link with this family, so I'd appreciate it if someone could see if they can, or if they can find a link to another David family.

Thank you
Paula

Hi Claire

Thank you very much for such a quick response and welcome. Can you see Evan's occupation?

The address where living of Evan and Gwenllian of this entry in the Glamorgan booklet is Pendoylan if that is any help.

Thanks Syljun. In that case I don't think it's the Davids that I am looking for.

Hi Paula, I have all the names mentioned in your David family but mainly baptised Penmark or Llantwit Major. If I find a connection to Llanblethian I will get back to you.

I am also puzzled by the suggestion that Evan is the welsh for John as I have both the names of Evan and John for children in the same family.
