The Belfast Commercial Chronicle,17 May 1806 reported the marriage, at Thurles, of Robert Constable, Esq, M.D. to Miss Lanphier, eldest daughter of Thomas Lanphier of Parkstown, Esq

The reference of MD in this newspaper announcement would indicate that Ann Lanphier married Robert Constable the doctor in Tipperary rather than any other person

compounded by "At Lawlestown, near Clonmel, Mrs Constable, wife of Robert Constable, Esq, M.D" -previously referenced from Saunders News Letter 24 Oct 1809 also referring to MD or doctor

I hadn't seen "the Dublin Evening Mail, 24 Jun 1842 headed "Constable v Constable"?" hanes teulu
If I get a chance I will but family commitments this weekend will have to take precedent!!

Myluck once again thanks for your help and I quite understand family commitments are top priority. The feeling I have is Ann Lanphier married Robert Constable MD in 1806 and she died in 1809. He then married Ann Carey 1811 and he died 1830. I also think the John Nicholson Constable is a different family. The only other issue is if this proves to be correct is who was the mother of Robert and Jane. Unless they were twins I suspect Ann Lanphier was only parent to one if any of these children.
Take Care

Yes the Nicholson Constable is a puzzle, surely it is John Nicholson Constable to give him his full title. So John Nicholson Constable was the father of Hannah the heiress involved in legal claim and the brother of Robert. I believe these are a different family albeit related to the family I am investigating, suggest cousins. John Nicholson would be born too late to be in the family of Robert Constable who married first Ann Lanphier and then Ann Carey. The Robert Constable MD I'm investigating does not mention John Nicholson in his will in 1830. So a different family - would you agree.
Thanks for all your help which is truly appreciated

Hanes
Now I am even more puzzled there is Rev. John N. Constable, address Belmullet, Co. Mayo, owned 244 acres in 1870 - so is this a son and if it is should therefore be heir to what Hannah was in court about? And we still have the marriage of John Nicholson Constable to Anne Vanston to add to the mix...I do need to lie down now ???
Name   John Nicholas Constable
Spouse's Name   Anne Vanston
Event Date   09 August  1847
Event Place   St Peter, Dublin, Ireland
Father's Name   Robert Constable
Spouse's Father's Name   William Vanston

Furthermore we now know Hannah S Consable was not a Constable by marriage but remained unmarried when she has the land in 1870...my suggestion that Hannah Hackett and Hannah S Constable is clearly wrong - phew!

Hanes there are definitely distinct families

Name:   Nic Constable Esquire
County:   Tipperary
Parish:   Isertkieran
Townland:   Beeferstown
Year:   1834

Name:   Robt Constable Esquire
County:   Tipperary
Parish:   Isertkieran
Townland:   Beeferstown
Year:   1834
These are brothers....Nic is Nicholson Constable brother of Robert Constable and this Robert is the Esquire not the medic. Hannah is the daughter of this Nicholson Constable. Hannah's sister Louisa F died 12 April 1892, Clonmel but can't find a death record for Hannah, so far. They are definitely a different family though - would you agree - the John Nicholson Constable who attended TCD is the son of this Robert Constable Esq. Presumably the Nicholson came into the family as the surname of their mother.

Deceased Surname      Constable
Deceased Forename      Louisa F
Primary Beneficiary/Executor   Hannah S Constable
Date of Death         12 Apr 1892
Place of Death         Clonmel Tipperary

Hanes, Myluck

I have the definitive line backed up with evidence. Robert Constable Snr MD - sister Catherine she marries Wilkinson. Son Robert Constable also MD married first Ann Lanphier 1806. They had son Robert born about 1808 died 1825. Ann Constable nee Lanphier died 1809.Robert Constable Jnr MD married Anna Carey his 2nd wife. Children Jane, William, Henry. Jane married Hall in 1834. William inherited. Henry became Rev married in 1847. The other Robert Constable a separate family. He had son John Nicholson whilst his brother Nicholson had daughter Hannah S.
Thanks guys it's sorted but with your help of course. I now need help with my next brick wall ;)
