Samuel Tester 1784
« on: Thursday 12 May 16 22:31 BST (UK) »
Hi Everybody, I have been struggling on this one for quite some time now.

Samuel Tester is my 4th Great Grandfather.

Samuel Tester Married Mary Wenham on 11th October 1802 @ Souls Parish Church Waldron.
I have found various children for them, and have got further back on Mary's Side of the family.

Samuel though, the tracks stop here. I cannot find anything else about him. I am desperate to find some more information about him.
Has anyone found any additional information.... I did notice someone else asking after him also. Did you get any further.

Many thanks in advance

Allen

Welcome to Rootschat.

There is a burial of a Samuel Tester at All Saints, Waldron on 18th August 1794. Obviously not your Samuel but possibly a relation.

Thankyou for this.

I love close to waldron and have been there many times as i have other ancestors buried there.
I will try and get up there at the weekend, and speak to the vicar. He may be able to give some clues.

I have noticed a lot of my ancestors back to this time were not original with names, and often called there first children the same name as the father, so could possibly be a relative.

I have been stuck on this one for over a year now, have managed to follow Mary Wenham (Tester) Back a lot further.

Thanks for your reply   :D

Looks a possible doesn't it, it just depends how sure Alan is of his date of birth? If you say you know nothing about him, Alan, how do you know when he was born?

If that is his baptism, he has subtracted 5 years from his age in 1851, as that census would make him born 1784. It is possible that the first baby called Samuel died and they called the next one Samuel as well.

I cant a Burial for a Samuel or a later Baptisum.

A lot of our ancestors knocked years off their age :).Maybe Samuel didn't want to be 6 years older than Mary.
