Searching a "Deceased" Great Uncle
« on: Sunday 15 May 16 13:55 BST (UK) »
Afternoon
This person is deceased but information would be great...
Searching for any information please on a Great Uncle, John William Moore, who emigrated to Canada in 1929, he arrived in Quebec City, Canada on board the SS Empress of Scotland.
I have found his immigration papers leaving Southampton, England and more papers on arrival in Quebec, Canada. He is said to have joined RCMP and was a boxer for them, how true...
He eventually reached Toronto, when I don't know, I am told he once worked with / for the Union Carbide of Canada in Toronto he is said to have been an Executive, how true. I have written to Dow Corporate in Michigan USA but have had no reply yet. I wrote 2 weeks ago.
In Toronto he married a Lillian, no surname and wouldn't know where to trace and obtain marriage papers, honest truth I don't believe I can obtain in Ontario. In Toronto the address that both lived at was 49 Virginia Avenue, East York, Toronto 6, (now days M4C 2S6), Ontario. I wrote to the given address roughly 18months ago plus a few others up and down the road but not a single reply... Fishing on Ancestry today I have found the All Canada, Voters List, 1935-1980, and find them both on the 1953, 1957, 1963 & 1965, they are the only 4 that Lillian Moore appears on with John Moore at that address. John being a more common name I have found quite a few more but because Lillian under her name is only on 4 I haven't viewed them.
Great Uncle is said to have been a member of either the Freemasons or the Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes and came to London, England in 1951, for 1month, on behalf of one of them but which one and again how true I don't know. Yes I have found the shipping papers from Quebec City to Liverpool, England.

Any help, advice assistance on where to go or what to view next would be great please.
Look forward with hearing from someone
Kind Regards Tim
