Squires - Ashwellthorpe, Fundenhall, Wreningham, Flordon
« on: Sunday 15 May 16 14:43 BST (UK) »
I am looking for any Squires from the Ashwellthorpe, Fundenhall, Wreningham, Flordon, Tasburgh area
from about 1750 to 1850.  I am trying to fit together the various families, with particular interest in the name Japhet which morphs to Jeffery.  This patch of parishes were not filmed by the LDS so aren't available through FreeREG and familysearch (except the pathcy ATs).

Any help appreciated.

Julie

The Norfolk Family History Society has Tasburgh, Wreningham baptisms 1813 onward, Forden burials 1813 onward but so far not baptism. Fundenhall from 1725-1880.
With a search of Squires there are 32 baptisms at Fundenhall, the following are 3 that will be of interest
Robert bap 6 September 1761 of Japhet and Susanna Squires
Geofry bap 11 January 1765 of Geofry and Susanna Squires
Barnard bap 20 September 1795 of Japhet and Elizabeth (nee Lincoln)Squires

The rest are from 1817-1876

Thanks :)  Is there an Adam born about 1816 in Ashwellthorpe ?

I don't have access to the NFHS records at present.

They have not transcribed Ashwellthorpe, they do have record of the monuments in the churchyard, no Squires

Added:
Wreningham --Japeth Squires married Elizabeth Lincoln 9 December 1788.
Fundenhall--  Adam baptized 11 August 1839 of Adam Squires and Hannah

Maybe this one is connected to your family.
St Augustine Norwich Burials
Japhat Squires buried 7 November 1761, married.

Thanks - some of those I have come across already - I am sure they are all connected but not quite found the connection yet.  Maybe I need to plan a trip to Norwich.

You don't have to be a member of the NFHS to use the records they have at Kirby Hall. The opening times are listed on the website. Its near the NRO.
I'm 5000 miles away so I can only see records posted on line as a member of NFHS

I live fairly near so I can make a trip sometime - it seems Ashwellthorpe needs some attention :)  I didn't realise anyone could use the Kirby Hall data - thanks for that.

Have you tried freereg ?  they have quite good coverage for Norfolk - useful to have a second opinion as well.
Also lots of the images are online at the familysearch site.
