Barnados would be a home for maybe illigitimate children poor, children, orphans etc etc set  up by Dr Banardo. not sure when 1800s i think . Maybe google it ha ha

Yes son of Mary Elizabeth James. He was born Blackburn 1881

Joanna James age 63 b Liverpool widow dressmaker
Mary E Wharton age 30 b 1861 Liverpool widow sick nurse boarder ( could this be Mary E James birth year out but same occupation as the daughter in 1881 census )
John E Wharton b 1882 Liverpool son

A death for Johanna James given a birth year of 1832 died Jan 1892 Birkenhead Cheshire age 60 ?

This seems to get more confusing there is a record for a John James birth 16/7/1884 Blackburn England Canadian Soldiers ww1 next of kin Mrs Gregory (  Aunt ) looks like same address Shaun already posted
