John James family - Mariner Liverpool 1850s onwards
« on: Thursday 19 May 16 10:17 BST (UK) »
Hi
Would anyone like to help with the decendents of the John James family in Liverpool 1850s  married Joanna Poulson. John was a Mariner, then Master Mariner, I can't seem to find deaths for his children Florence Gregory nee James, Mary Elizabeth James, and Ellen Thompson  nee Thompson, I know Ellen married a chartered accountant  Charles H Thompson.

Also what happened to the children of Ellen and Charles.
Thanks

Funnily enough I have recently replied on a thread on TheGenealogist forum regarding Florence Gregory, father John Henry James, a sea captain. http://www.thegenealogist.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?tid=5811

Hi  Shaun,

Yes thats me!!  My James ancestors are a bit elusive! My Great Grandmother we think was a Banardos boy John William James mother Mary Elizabeth James, sister of Florence Gregory Nee James.

Now you say the Davidson boy- not wanted....??? questions!!  Also where has the Davidson name come from,  thought Florence was a spinster when she married Gregory?.... though Mary Elizabeth James was not married when she had John.

Presumably Thomas Davidson was Florence's illegitimate son.

I've just found his WW1 army file ( he served right through the war from August 1914 to 1918) - like his merchant navy record, that names Florence Gregory, 31 Flinders Street, as his mother. There is a letter from her in the file.

Wonder if this is his baptism
Thomas Davidson birth date 25/9/1893 Liscard Cheshire
baptism 15/11/1893 St Peters Liverpool
Father Thomas Davidson mother Florence
Rosie

Ignore this baptism as I see another child for this couple Nellie Davidson 1894
