Had a look in those Wilsford (near Pewsey) records and there is ANOTHER Thomas Chandler birth, with parents 

May not be the correct one but here it is

Thomas CHANDLER son of John Chandler and Elizabeth, bapt. 2 May 1779

John Chandler married Elizabeth Higgins by licence 18 Jan. 1769
Grooms abode : MANNINGFORD BOHUN, Brides parish: WILSFORD

What were your 'Thomas's' children called ?

My Thomas issue were:

Elizabeth
Mary Jane
Hannah
George
Elijah.

All baptised at Orcheston St. George, where their mother was from.

Thomas 'a pauper'  was living with son Elijah in 1851 when it read that he was born at 'Manford'!
