Mark JORDAN of the parish of Elmstead in Kent married Elizabeth VALYER of the same parish

25th February 1744/5 St Benet Paul's Wharf, London.

According to the Marriage Licence Allegation and Bond,  Mark Jordan was a Bachelor and a Farmer aged 34.  Elizabeth Valyer was a Spinster aged 24.  As previously noted both were of the Parish of Elmstead (sic) in Kent.

May help in the next step.

If it is them, it is strange why they married in London - it's not as if either were underage so they married without permission. If he was a farmer, his work would have kept him in Kent you would have thought. Another worrying thing, to me, is the length of time between this marriage and the baptism of the daughter, unless she wasn't the first child?

There are possible baptisms from 1747 in Cheriton, Kent which is abt 4 miles from Capel le Ferne, so possibly the couple were there and moved on to Capel c1752.

Hi, Thank you all for your responses. I,ll have a look around for other children of mark and Elizabeth,
not been able to get to the library and look at maps of Kent due to foul weather at Whitby.
