Benjamin curtis
« on: Wednesday 25 May 16 20:04 BST (UK) »
Hi all.

I am trying to find a death record for a Benjamin Curtis, born 1862 in skeffington, Leicestershire and died in Canada around 1890, we think. The only other known info in Canada was that his son was born in north cypress in manatoba in 1889.

Thanks in advance

Background info - Benjamin was still in Leicestershire in 1881 - a possible marriage record for Benjamin Curtis to Elizabeth Hucknell in Q4 1886 - if he past away in 1890, then he wouldn't show on a Canadian census.
A possible Fred Ernest Curtis is back in Halstead Leicester for the 1891 UK Census

Caroline Hays   73
William Hays   41 Annie Hays   31
Fred Ernest Curtis 1

Frederick Curtis described as the adopted son of Anne Hayes in 1901.

What was the last sighting for Elizabeth Curtis (nee Hucknell) ?

Hi Sandra.

Fred Ernest Curtis in halstead is correct. Have checked that with the gentleman that does tilton on the hills family trees on that villages web site.

Apart from the mention of Elizabeth on franks birth record, I have no other info on either of them in Canada, apart from the record of them getting on the boat to Canada.

The more interesting bit is how did frank get to halstead?

We have info on his life in England, including death record, but only the birth record in Canada.

Also the marriage to Elizabeth hucknall is correct

Hmmm they are both hard to find - just a thought - wonder if either could have died on a ship returning to the UK ?

Also for information. Benjamin and Elizabeth had a daughter in 1888. She was left with her aunt in halstead when they went to Canada.

As far as I know so far Benjamin didn't. Elizabeth I don't know about tho. As she originally came from Liverpool area there is a chance that she did
