Burial docket: can't decipher which cemetery
« on: Sunday 29 May 16 00:12 BST (UK) »
My mum found the burial docket for her great grandfather but I can't decipher the name of the ground so I can't go and find the grave.  Can anyone help me please?  It is in Newport, Wales and I live a long way away from there.

There is quite a tale to the man as he was a signalman who was witness to a fatal train crash but his heroic action averted a worse one and in so doing he saved the midnight mail.  He then nearly had a similar experience a month later and collapsed in his signal box and died of nervous shock.

Thanks

I don't think it is the name of the cemetery, I think it says Consecrated Ground.

Ah yes!  Thanks groom.  I was thinking it must be Welsh  ;)

I am guessing that it must be the huge St Woollos Cemetery.

May need a trip down there to find it.

As you have all the details - date, grave number etc, you could contact the cemetery and check if he is buried there and if there is a headstone.
