Walter Thomas Knight & May Maud Quinlan
« on: Monday 30 May 16 10:41 BST (UK) »
Hello, just joined today and looking to solve a family mystery. I know my grand father's parents married in 1915 but separated and the family lost touch with his mother. May Maud Quinlan. Any help or tips for getting started gratefully received.

Welcome to Rootschat but you'll need to give us more detail so that we can help you.

You've put the title as "Knight Quinlan"  ???

I know my grand father's parents married in 1915 but separated and the family lost touch with his mother. May Maud Quinlan.
Where did they marry? husband's name? have you found May in any earlier census records? when and where was she born? do you know the names of her parents? when was the last time you've found May mentioned?
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Hello and Welcome  :)

Do you mean May M Quinlan who married Walter T Knight in West Ham 1915?

As Aghadowey says, we need more details - place, age etc. I was looking for a man called Knight Quinlan at first  :)

Thank you all! Very new to this so thanks for the prompts.
The details I have are...
Walter Thomas Knight born 30.1.1890 married May Maud Quinlan born 1893. West Ham on 3.7 1915.
Should I edit the title to make it clearer? Is that possible now?
Thank you all so much for the help
Jane

I have absolutely no information on May Maud Quinlan. After she left my grandfather was raised by his father. It was never discussed. Totally taboo subject.

I haven't used it but the 1939 registration should list May if she was living somewhere in England (we aren't allowed to do lookups for it here on Rootschat). You can do a free search there but too many possible May Knights to know if any are her.

As long as she kept her married name then we should be looking for May Maud Knight.

That's helpful and a good point about the name. Thank you! Jane

Thank you very much. That sounds positive as we have family links to Poole! Jane
