On the 1891 census it already states son in law, I wish things with this family were easily traced haha they like to confuse me!

1891 it does not say Henry is "son in law" -it infers that
Henry is "Head"(of household) and a "widower"
Agnes is described as mother in law and widow

Elizabeth A is referred to as daughter -so she would be daughter of Henry

so from that information it seems Henry Forbes and his wife had a daughter Elizabeth Ann Forbes (birth reg Mar qtr 1900)
Henry's wife died before 1901 census and made Henry a widower
it seems a strong possiblity Henry Forbes married a very young Agnes Wilson in 1888
They had daughter Elizabeth Ann
So Elizabeth would be Henry Forbes daughter -and is listed as such in 1891
the Wilson children in 1891 are described as sister and bro in law to henry -thus confirming he married one of their siblings

Henry Forbes then married Agnes Wilson in 1892 (Agnes Wilson would be the widowed mother of Henry's previous wife (also called Agnes)

1901 census -which I have not seen (could you post details please?)
would list Elizabeth Ann as daughter to Henry (head of house) NOT  daughter to Agnes - Agnes should be listed as wife to Henry

But Agnes being his mother in law means he's the son in law as that's the relation to head. I can't copy th page at the moment as on my mobile, it just has 1901 Henry Forbes 60 labourer, Agnes Forbes 60 and Elizabeth A daughter 11 so it wouldn't be the younger Agnes! Can only assume that she was illegitimate and she took her on as her own. I will check that marriage out further thank you the one I'd seen was in 1913 but it didn't match up.
