Agnes Wilson/ Forbes......help
« on: Monday 30 May 16 11:52 BST (UK) »
I am absolutely baffled and feel I need some fresh eyes to help. I found Agnes on the  1891 census as Agnes Wilson living with her children and a son in law Henry Forbes and his daughter in Newcastle I have then come across them on the 1901 census as as Henry Forbes and Agnes Forbes and Elizabeth there daughter. Baffled! I can't seem to find a marriage for them, I found a possible death for Agnes in 1940, I can't seem to even find Elizabeth on the 1911 census any fresh eyes willing to give me a point in the right direction?

Yeah I've seen that and the 1901 census what I'm totally baffled with is when Henry and Agnes marry and where on earth they vanish too along with Elizabeth who then becomes their daughter in 1901  8) I'm so confused.

No on the 1901 census it has Henry Forbes and Agnes Wilson as Married both 60, there'd be a massive age gap if it was her daughter, I'm unsure as to how he was her son in law? Can only assume he was married to another of her daughters who had died. I can't find her on any prior census' and I'll also assume the the A stood for Ann I've not long stumbled across them.

this looks like Agnes in 1881
13 Chapel Yard newcastle upon Tyne
Agnes Wilson Head widow 34 laundress scotland
Agnes daughter 9 (is this who married henry Forbes?)
Thomas son 7
Alice daughter 4
Robert son 2
children all b Newcastle upon Tyne
RG11 5060 69 4

seems ages vary from census to census (and Agnes p.o.b.)

So wonder if Agnes age 9 in 1881 married Henry Forbes in 1888 she would be about 16 ??

Can't find a death for her though

it looks to me like Henry Forbes married the very young Agnes Wilson in 1888 they had a daughter Elizabeth Ann in 1890
Agnes possibly died but death reg not found
then Henry Forbes married Agnes'mother-also named Agnes
Marriage
21 Aug 1892
St Nicholas Newcastle upon Tyne
Henry Forbes
Agnes Wilson

haven't found the 1901 census you mention -but Elizabeth would be recorded as daughter (meaning daughter of head of house - not meaning Agnes senior was her mother

confusing -and I should imagine not within the law

I believe it's Agnes senior who married Henry as there both the same age. This is where the confusion sets in
