Hi, this is a genuine longshot considering the common surname.
Here goes... My grandfather, Maurice Neville Maguire was born in Young, NSW Australia. He married my grandmother, Marjorie Josephine Higginson in Australia in NSW. They had two children Dianne Florence Maguire and David Boaz Maguire. And moved to Victoria, Australia settling in Wheelers Hill. Maurice passed away in 2006. Marjorie passed away in 2000, she was born 5 May 1911. Dianne was my mother, she died, Dianne Florence Volkering in April 2009.
Anyway I'm trying to trace back my grandfather's Irish heritage. My Uncle is the last surviving member of my mother's side of the family and he tells me my great grandparents (Maurice's mother and father) were both Irish born and moved to Australia. The only other information he knows is that Maurice's father was a Baker, but died when my Uncle was a baby.
I don't even know how to try and find my great grandparents names, when they moved to Australia and where they were born in Ireland. My purpose is to visit the place in Ireland where my heritage originates as I personally now live in the UK and I'm keen to retrace that side of my family – because no one else ever has. My mother never really spoke of her grandparents as she also never really knew about them.
Any help would be A-MAZING. Whether that's information about my great grandparents or some kind of direction on how to track down their information and origins.
Thanks in advance,
Sam V.
